Sen. Creigh Deeds Endorsed by REPRO Rising Virginia
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA — Only a few weeks after announcing his endorsement from the VA National Organization for Women PAC, State Senator Creigh Deeds announces today another major endorsement from REPRO Rising Virginia, one of the leading grassroots advocacy groups fighting to defend and expand abortion rights in the Commonwealth.
“REPRO Rising Virginia is honored to support Senator Creigh Deeds in his re-election bid. We have worked with Senator Deeds for nearly two decades to protect and expand reproductive freedom in the Commonwealth. During his 30-plus years in public office, Senator Deeds has never shied away from talking about or taking a stand on abortion rights. Senator Deeds was outspoken on the issue in his 2009 Gubernatorial race and used the word abortion when so many others would not,” said REPRO Rising Virginia Executive Director Tarina Keene.
“If re-elected, his leadership on the Senate Judiciary Committee positions him to be a powerful defender against criminalizing abortion patients and providers, as well as charting a path that puts impartial judges on the bench. In this new post-Roe world, we need leaders like Creigh Deeds to ensure reproductive freedom is a true reality for the people of the Senate District 11 and each and every Virginian,” Keene continued.
“I’m honored and humbled to have earned the support of an organization that does such important and vital work.,” said State Senator Creigh Deeds. “My goal has always been to create a Commonwealth that works for everyone, and that means a Commonwealth where abortion is accessible, timely, and safe at all times. I firmly believe it is time to protect in the state constitution the right to abortion access here in Virginia. We have an obligation to the people of the Commonwealth, and across the country, to ensure abortion access is not subject to change based on the next election, or the whims of our political opponents.”
